North County Courthouse Affected by Power Outage; Friday Afternoon Civil Hearings to be Rescheduled

The North County Courthouse was affected by a power outage today, Friday, March 28. In-person access has been restored for the North and Annex buildings, however the South building remains closed to the public. 

All North County civil matters on calendar for this afternoon are continued on the court’s own motion due to the power outage in the area. Please check back beginning on Tuesday, April 1, for scheduling updates in individual cases. New dates will be posted to the Register of Actions.

The San Diego Superior Court’s North County Courthouse will host 600 students for Youth in Court Day on Friday, March 7, to talk about issues children and teens encounter today and their legal consequences. 

Youth in Court Day kicks off with morning mock trial sessions tailored for an estimated 300 elementary and middle school students.

La Jolla Country Day School’s Mock Trial team topped 41 other San Diego County high school teams to win the annual legal competition. The San Diego County Mock Trial program provides high school students with the opportunity to experience the legal field in courtrooms rather than classrooms. The student teams take on the roles of lawyers and witnesses facing off on a hypothetical case in front of actual state and federal judges.

San Diego Superior Court Warns of Jury Duty Scams

The San Diego Superior Court is issuing a renewed warning about convincing scams trying to take advantage of members of the public.

In the most recent example, scammers call individuals stating that they failed to appear for jury duty and that they would be arrested. The individuals are instructed to report to official locations including courthouses or an address that was previously but is not currently a Superior Court location.

San Diego Resident to Lead the 2024-2025 San Diego County Civil Grand Jury

August 15, 2024

James Tuck was selected as the foreperson of the 2024-2025 San Diego County Grand Jury, which started service on July 1, 2024. 

Together with 18 other San Diego County residents, he represents the people of San Diego County in a watchdog role investigating governmental agencies and public entities within the county. 

Born in Durham, North Carolina, Tuck grew up throughout the United States as a military child. He now resides in Linda Vista.
