Public Notice: Notice Regarding Electronic Service of Court Notices

June 26, 2025

In 2022, AB 2961 amended Code of Civil Procedure §1010.6, requiring electronic service of court-issued notices. At the time the bill passed, the effective date for this requirement to be met was July 1, 2024; however, on July 18, 2024, AB 2283 was enacted as urgency legislation, extending the deadline for courts to comply with this requirement to July 1, 2025.


Beginning July 1, 2025, all notices issued by the Court will be electronically served on all applicable parties.

The San Diego Superior Court will be closed on Friday, July 4, 2025, in observance of Independence Day.

The public is urged to visit the Court’s website at sdcourt.ca.gov to handle traffic tickets or obtain court information.

San Diego Superior Court Warns Public about Scams

The San Diego Superior Court has received complaints about individuals trying to scam members of the public by pretending to be court officers or officials.

In two recent examples, individuals have received text messages - one stating that there are overdue Traffic Court fees in their name and if they do not pay the fees in a certain manner, additional action will be taken; and another stating that they have a Family Court hearing scheduled and must attend virtually.

Notices for Traffic Citations Issued to Motorists with a California Driver License Expiring in 2030 May Not Include Traffic Violator School Eligibility

Traffic Court Reminder Notices for a limited number of individuals may have inaccurately omitted traffic violator school eligibility information due to a system error in the court’s case management system. Potentially affected individuals include those who (1) received a traffic citation, (2) have a California Driver License expiring in 2030, and (3) were not notified they are eligible for traffic violator school in their Traffic Court Reminder Notice. Some of these individuals may in fact be eligible for traffic violator school.
