In light of California Supreme Court Chief Justice Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye’s statewide Order allowing for a two-month suspension of jury trials, the San Diego Superior Court is dismissing all summoned jurors through May 22, 2020. These actions are done in the interest of community health and safety in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak.

All jury trials in the County of San Diego are suspended and continued for a period of sixty (60) days from the date of this order (through Friday, May 22, 2020). San Diego County residents summoned to appear between March 16 – May 22 in the Superior Court are asked not to report to any courthouse. Jury service will be considered complete for any juror with a summons within that date range.

“While we are providing several emergency services to the public at this time, it does not appear to be in the best interest of our community’s health to resume jury trials for the next 60 days,” says San Diego Superior Court Presiding Judge Lorna Alksne.
